Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive

The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive (WEEE Directive) is the European Community directive 2002/96/EC on waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE). This directive in conjunction with the RoHS Directive 2002/95/EC, became European Law in February 2003. The main principle for the WEEE Directive is the setting of targets for collection, recycling and recovery of all types of electrical goods.

The following image can be found on electrical goods and shows that they should be disposed following WEEE guidelines. To remind you that old electrical equipment can be recycled, it is marked with this crossed-out wheeled bin symbol. Please do not throw any electrical equipment (including those marked with the crossed out wheeled bin symbol) in your bin.

“IT Supplier” the website owned by TI (Technology Innovators) Ltd T/A The TI Group (the company) work in complete compliance of The Waste Electrical or Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive. This means that you can recycle your old electricals with us and if you are buying a new electrical item, we will recycle your old one for free. The following are reasons why this directive is so important.

Why recycle?

a) Unwanted electrical equipment is the UKs fastest growing type of waste.

b) Many electrical items can be repaired or recycled, saving natural resources and the environment.

c) If you do not recycle, electrical equipment will end up in landfill where hazardous substances will leak out and cause soil and water contamination – harming wildlife and also human health.
